Arranged Marriage --- Chapter 4.... Unusual ending or New beginnings !!!!!
"Why doesn't this girl speak her mind" ...Rahul kept checking for her reply. He called up his close friend, Nikhil and shared the entire happenings to him. Nikhil after a patient hearing was also of the opinion that the girl's take matters in this situation. So, there was no option but to wait for her reply.
Meanwhile, at home things were moving at a different speed which made Rahul all the more uncomfortable. He knew anything that he would say will be held against him.
" Even I too think that we need to meet up again before we take a decision " ... finally a ping from Shruti. Now, this got him relieved to some extent. " Sure, I am glad even u think so, but as you must be aware, our parents have already made plans to take this forward " . So we need to inform them too. There was a silence from her side, Rahul was now sure that she has no say in these matters at home.
A big psyche of AM from the parents perspective is if the boy wants to meet the girl again ...it taken has a negative connotation. As in, there is always a fear of rejection. The point of getting to know each other to some extent to be able to make a decision is just no-doer, which exactly was going on in the Shruti household when she broached the topic of meeting Rahul again.
Her father couldn't fathom the idea that if things between the parents have gone far, why is Rahul wanting to meet up Shruti again. He was just not comfy with the idea ..
After a few phone calls between the parents, girls parents land up at Rahul's place. They inform Rahul's parents about his meeting with Shruti without informing them. Rahul calmly tried to explain that it was with their daughter's consent that the meet happened. And he also said that both of them feel that they need to meet up again to know each other better.
On hearing this, hell broke loose. Shruti's father could not fathom this at all and left saying that he is not comfortable with Rahul & Shruti meeting again. If he has to meet her, then he can meet at her house or at their building compound. Rahul found all this beyond him and said if there's no understanding on this, it's difficult to take it forward.
The meet ended abruptly, Rahul told his parents that he can't go ahead with this. The father himself doesn't even know what Shruti has in mind. And Shruti herself has no say in these matters at home. The conversation between the families stopped.
Well, it's a common perception that Arrange Marriage happens smoothly, but the truth beneath the surface is something else !!!
Now with all this beyond him, Rahul was lazying up in the office library browsing "Wings of Fire ....". "
" Can I share this table if you are ok .? Rahul looked up to the voice ...A smiling face, the ID had the name Anushka, holding up some 6 books in her hand.
Of course, Anushka. ! Please, you can join in. You want me to help you with the books ?? Rahul said cheekily.
And , the conversation started ......
